Good morning, and happy 2025! My family had a festive, hectic close to 2024lccplus, filled with West Coast travel and whirling about from one thing to the next, seeing friends and family, and eating extremely well — if a bit too copiously.
I don’t regret a thing, though. Now, I’m ready for a quiet January hibernation, sticking close to home and cooking healthful meals for a much-needed reset. I’ll still feast, but in that “more vegetables, whole grains, beans, tofu and less meat” sort of way. Want to give it a go? We’ve got you!
I’ll start off with a couple of one-pot recipes to destress as deliciously as possible. First up is my orzo with spinach and feta, starring a mountain of silky greens, plus scallions and peas for even more verdant vibrancy. There’s lemon zest in the pan, too, for brightness, and because it plays nice with the feta. About the cheese: You can substitute goat cheese or Parmesan if you want, or leave it out completely. The dish will still work beautifully either way.

Another simple one-pot to begin the year right is Ali Slagle’s white beans with prosciutto and dates. I love the sweet contrast dried fruit brings to savory recipes, and here the caramel fudginess of dates next to the salty brawniness of cured pork is especially delightful. Ali also adds vinegar and celery at the end for freshness and tang, and you can make the whole thing in under 30 minutes. Put it on repeat for 2025.

Donald J. Trump did not mention Mr. Robinson once at a campaign event in Wilmington, N.C., on Saturday, and several Trump fans who attended said they understood why it was necessary to distance Mr. Trump from Mr. Robinson. The former president endorsed Mr. Robinson in March and held a fund-raiser for him at his home in Palm Beach, Fla., last year.
Mr. Trump would be 82 on Election Day in 2028, older than President Biden is now. This year’s election is already his third consecutive time being the Republican nominee, after he won in 2016 and lost in 2020. In the modern party system, only Franklin Delano Roosevelt has ever received a major party’s nomination four times, though a handful have matched Mr. Trump with three.
