MANILA, Philippines — The wife of a Philippine National Police (PNP) official who died in the collision between a passenger jet and a military helicopter in Washington D.C. last January 29 arrived in the United States (US) over the weekend. 

PNP Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said Supply Management Division chief Police Col. Pergentino Malabed’s wife is receiving assistance from their police attachés in the US. 

“Nakarating na po sa US yung kanyang asawa at inalalayan po siya ng ating police attaché sa US,” she said in a press conference on Monday.

Over the weekend, the PNP revealed that Mabaled was among the 67 people feared dead in the said collision.

He was onboard the American Airlines flight that collided with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan Washington National Airport.

The police force said Mabaled was on official travel “fulfilling his duty, committed to the service of protecting and securing both the PNP and the nation.”
